The Weeknds ‘Blinding Lights’ becomes first song on Spotify to hit 5 billion streams

Making records its been announced that The Weeknds megahit ‘Blinding Lights’ has reached 5 billion streams making it the first single to do so.

In a post shared on Sunday, Spotify executives announced via Instagram that the 2019 track had made history once again.

“On August 31st, 2025, The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights became the first song to reach 5 billion streams on Spotify,” they wrote with a photo of The Weeknd.
