Local H surprise release ‘ReFISTED’, a re-recording of their debut LP
Published
7 months agoon
Long time rock favorites Local H have surprised fans with dropping ‘ReFISTED’ out of nowhere. Celebrating 30 years since their debut LP ‘Ham Fisted’ released, ‘ReFISTED’ sees the band re-record that album. The new LP was recorded by Greg Norman (Russian Circles, Neurosis, Kim Deal, Andrew Bird) at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio, and features guests such as Deanna Belos (Sincere Engineer).
Next week, Local H will embark on a full U.S. tour supporting Everclear and Sponge, including dates at The Regent (LA, 9/4), Irving Plaza (NYC, 10/22), and more. Tickets and more information for Local H upcoming tour can be found HERE.
Here’s what guitarist/vocalist Scott Lucas has to say about the album:
“Not so much a reimagining — more like a do-over. Like retaking a test that you didn’t exactly ace the first time around. It seemed like a fun, easy idea — can you take songs that you wrote and recorded 30 years ago and breathe new life into them? Or give them a new spin? Are you a better songwriter than you were 30 years ago? A better musician? A better singer? Turned out to be one of the hardest records I ever made. It was like getting into a fistfight with myself at 24. I think I got a few licks in, but I walked out of there pretty beat up.
We’ve recorded parts of albums at Electrical Audio before, but this time I wanted the entire process —all the recording and mixing— to be done at Electrical. I wanted to sort of recast HAM FISTED as a Touch & Go record from the early ‘90s. Though they still probably wouldn’t have signed us.
We treated the original record as a demo. Sometimes that meant radically reworking and rearranging the song. And sometimes that just meant trying to record a meaner, heavier version of the original. And they were already pretty fucking mean and heavy to begin with. By the time I got done with vocals, my right arm was completely numb. I honestly think I had a stroke.
I also wanted this to be a family affair. I brought in multiple people that I’ve been playing with over the years. To represent the entire history of the band. So there’s Eric Oblander from Five Horse Johnson and Clutch reprising his harmonica performance from 2004’s WHATEVER HAPPENED TO P.J. SOLES? And then we’ve got horns on the song ‘Strict 9’ courtesy of Poi Dog Pondering’s Max Crawford — whom I’ve worked with before in my solo band Scott Lucas &The Married Men. And although I didn’t get every drummer I’ve ever played with to appear on this thing, I at least got three of them (including Ryan Harding and new guy Ronnie DiCola from The Arrivals). And sometimes we had multiple drummers playing together on the same song. Which is all cool, but since it’s a re-recording of a record I made in my early twenties, I felt like the record needed some new, younger blood. Like a vampire. I didn’t want it to just be lifers making reappearances like the ghosts of records past — so I brought in people from new bands that I dig. Like the dudes from Tuff Sudz and Deanna from Sincere Engineer — who knocked it out of the park on ‘Skid Marks’.”

Sepultura have dropped a new song ‘Beyond The Dream’, which is coming from the bands upcoming farewell EP. ‘The Cloud of Unknowing‘ will release April 24th and be the final music released from the legendary group.
SEPULTURA commented,
“Beyond the Dream” emerges as one of the most emblematic moments of Sepultura’s final chapter, serving as a poetic reflection of a journey shaped by decades of albums, tours, and life on the road.
This previously unreleased composition fulfills a long-standing desire of the band to explore the ballad format, blending Sepultura’s identity with the melodic sensitivity of renowned collaborators. To bring this project to life, Sepultura enlisted the essential collaboration of Sérgio Britto and Tony Bellotto of Titãs—musicians who share a long history with the band and are widely recognized as specialists in the genre, as well as composers of classics such as “Polícia.”
The result of a direct partnership between members of Sepultura and Titãs, the song celebrates the connection between artists who share the stage and a deep passion for creation. The outcome is a piece that brings great satisfaction to everyone involved, establishing itself as both an emotional and historical milestone featured on the band’s final EP, released in this very year that marks Sepultura’s official farewell.”

August Burns Red releases new song ‘The Nameless’, announces new album

March 30, 2026
Metalcore vets August Burns Red are back with a new song with ‘The Nameless’. Only continuing to prove why they are one of the genres best it comes with the news of a new album as well. ‘Season Of Surrender’ will drop June 5th on Fearless Records.
“The Nameless is a hard-hitting, heavy bruiser that doesn’t let up for one moment,” states Davidson. “It combines classic ABR elements with dark moody technical rhythms, and fast paced vocals to keep the intensity up for the full three minutes of the track. To me it showcases our roots of where we’ve come from, and the future path of where we’re heading.”
Luhrs follows, “Lyrically, The Nameless is a song about not wasting your life away for the sake of acceptance and comfortability. Sometimes it takes detaching from what you’ve been told, or from the beliefs you are no longer aligned with, in order to face your own weaknesses. In doing so you can break free to live a life you are proud of.”
Season of Surrender features guest appearances from The Devil Wears Prada‘s Mike Hranica, Polaris‘ Jamie Hails, and Make Them Suffer.

Ringworm’s James “Human Furnace” Bulloch has GoFundMe launched after he undergoes surgery
Published
7 days agoon
March 30, 2026
James “Human Furnace” Bulloch, a legendary figure in heavy music, has undergone surgery that will keep him away from both performing live and doing his work as a tattoo artist for the unforeseen future. In turn fellow legends Dwid from Integrity and Florida Frank from Hatebreed have set up a GoFundMe to help James out during this time.
From the GoFundMe :
James “Human Furnace” Bulloch is a talented tattoo artist and, as many of you know, the singer for Ringworm and Gluttons. Recently, James had to undergo surgery, which has put his life and career on hold. As a result, he is unable to work at the tattoo shop for at least a month, and it will be several months before he can return to performing with his bands. This sudden change has created a lot of uncertainty and stress, both emotionally and financially.
During this recovery period, the bills don’t stop coming. Medical expenses are adding up, and without his regular income from tattooing and performing, it’s tough to keep up with everyday living costs. We (Frank and Dwid) started this fundraiser to help ease that burden, so James can focus on healing without the added worry of how to pay for essentials.
Thanks in advance to everyone who supports James during this challenging time. Every bit of help means the world and brings him one step closer to getting back to doing what he does best—creating art and music for the community.
