Game Review : Grand Vegas Casino

Casino gamblers on modern consoles seem to be a thing of the past. While the PS2 era seemed to have a flux of them, modern day systems don’t seem to be too keen on trying to bring them back. Grand Vegas Casino takes a barebones approach this this and even with a small price to the game feels lightweight.

The game looks like a mid 2000s PC game and plays like one too really. It feels like a mobile game put on systems and even with the speed up function of your courser, it feels sluggish. The sound just repeats so much and the music is lifeless that I ended up just muting it all anyway.

The real draw here is the 4 different games the casino offers. Poker, blackjack, roulette, and slots. Each gives a basic run down of rules with a simulated trial game to kick them off. The issue is though, none are fun. Roulette at least gives a function to speed up each spin but its still slow. You can’t speed up slots or the speed the AI or dealer moves at in other games making it a slow bore to get through.

What really is the odd factor here is that based on what you win and bank, your minimum bets for some games is actually raised. When you run out, there is also no instant refill. Instead the game gives you $10,000 for every 60 seconds you sit idle on the home screen. Meaning if you blow through the money quickly, your game comes to an end.

Achievement hunters will be able to blow through this with ease. Outside of that though past a few minutes in each game, there just isn’t enough to keep you coming back.
