Film Review : Simon Says (2026)

Tubi really is a thing of endless wonder, both good and bad.

Simon Says is a short 25 minute film that opens with a birthday party. A man appears, dressed as some sort of offspring of a clown, and tells the group they’ll be playing Simon Says. From there though it quickly turns to killings galore.

Its an interesting premise and could be expanded upon. Our Simon here really is the only star and thing that works here though. Its a whimsical and seemingly evil character which is the rage in horror right now. Otherwise our cast of birthday party goers are all badly acted and lifeless, just there as a body to eventually fall.

For the low budget as well I’d have expected way worse in the blood and gore department. A few practical effects look fine enough for what it is. You get a few cheaply done FX blood shots too, which again, given the budget I’ve seen far worse for more money.

What works best here though is that while the film gives zero backstory it doesn’t overstay its welcome. While there are some horrendously dumb choices here in this short film it moves along at a brisk enough of a pace that by the end you enjoyed the short run while you had it.
