Album Review : No Cure – It Is Going To Get Dark (2026)

One of the years most anticipated albums in metal is the debut from No Cure and if this is any indication the band is going to have a long and successful future.

Straight from early and mid 2000s hardcore and metalcore No Cure let it all out as the Alabama straight edge group take no prisoners with this release. Fast, heavy, melodic, and continuously changing to keep you on your toes the group makes a sound that feels old and new at the same time.

Tracks like “Convulsing In The Dark” and “When The Spasms Cease” bring in the death metal feeling while throwing something like “Brain Matter Displacement“ into the mix. Featuring Jayway of Bayway (thats fun to say isn’t it) the group takes the long standing mixture of rap and hardcore but gives it a fresh coat of paint.

Lyrically the band throws a lot out there from your standard straight edge lyrics to tracks about the pain of addiction. The mix is also great with this sounding like an album a band 15 years in would be releasing and not a new band on their debut.

For a band giving praise to all their influences with their sound No Cure craft that fine mix that will draw fans in regardless if their from the death metal, metalcore, or hardcore scene. If the debut is any indication of whats to come as well then No Cure will be a mainstay in the genre for a long time I’d say.
