Vancouver-based psych-rock group Meltt made their way into Chicago on August 20th to debut their newest album, Pathways, their third full-length album since forming in 2019. Lincoln Hall ended up being the perfect spot for the show, giving fans a chance to experience the new music in a much more intimate setting and get up close with the band.
Pathways really feels like the band leaning into their ability to bounce between different genres while blending a bunch of different sounds, moods, and emotions together. That was definitely on display throughout the night, with the album’s different styles and vibes filling the entire room.
While the new album was obviously the main focus, it was also great hearing a good amount of Eternal Embers mixed into the set. That album really helped establish Meltt within the indie-psych scene, and hearing those songs alongside the new material showed how much the band has continued to grow.
Overall, if you’re into indie rock with psychedelic sounds, catchy choruses, and songs that take you through a bunch of different moods, Meltt is definitely a band worth checking out live on their current tour and adding to your music library.
