Isaiah Rashad Makes Triumphant Return to Chicago

Isaiah Rashad returned to Chicago for the first time since his Lollapalooza performance last year, and this time he came with a fresh new album, IT’S BEEN AWFUL, making it his first full-length project since 2021. From the moment Isaiah took the stage, he commanded the room with a video intro that eventually turned into his grand entrance. He slowly walked onto the stage wearing a bloody, ripped-up shirt that directly corresponded with what had just happened in the video. It was a really cool way to start the show and immediately set the tone for the night, letting the crowd know they were in for a night of storytelling.

In a time where a lot of artists are trying to release new albums every year, there is something about an artist taking their time between projects that makes the final product feel that much more meaningful. When an artist is able to take their time and create something that feels curated out of passion, you can see how much that material can resonate with fans when it finally comes out.

If there is one thing you can take away from an Isaiah Rashad concert, it is his ability to flow through an entire show from start to finish. Isaiah was the only performer on stage for nearly 90 minutes, yet he was able to keep the crowd engaged the entire time. There was never really a point where the energy felt like it dropped off, and his ability to move between songs and moments throughout the set made the whole performance feel natural.

Isaiah Rashad is one of the premier rappers in the scene right now, and his ability to prioritize storytelling while keeping lyricism as the focal point of his material is what makes him stand out. Whether you are listening to him through his records or seeing him perform live, there is always a sense that there is something more behind the music. His return to Chicago was a great reminder of why fans have continued to connect with his music, even during the years between projects.
