Film Review : The End Of Oak Street (2026)

The End Of Oak Street is fun on paper and gives some shockingly good moments but the film can’t quite figure out what it wants to be in the end which gives us a glimpse of would have been.

We follow the Platt family, a normal suburban type family that while the parents are seemingly on the verge of splitting, are normal otherwise. When they discover after a weird storm that not only has their entire street been moved but seemingly it has teleported back to the jurassic time, they realize that sticking together as a family may be the only way they survive this.

The real thing anyone cares for here is the dinos which are in full display. We get feather filled dinos galore that brutally murder anyone in their path here. The rest of the neighborhood mostly is cannon fodder for our family to watch get sometimes violently murdered. As for our characters ourselves who seemingly have dino repellent clothes on that save them in the last moment.

We get good intense action though and that makes this feel like a great throwback to other eras where a movie like this would thrive. The main issue though is that the film doesn’t know what it wants to be. Is it a R rated horror film, a PG family film, an episode of the Twilight Zone, or all of the above. Major moments are thrown in with emotion depth that was never set up or delivered and the ending here will have people either loving it or completely feeling like its a waste.

Thats not to say that Anne and Ewan here don’t try their best. Annes character is written so terrible that not even her trying to act her way out of a paper bag can save it meanwhile Ewans pretty much one dimensional character is saved by his acting chops.

By the end though the few memorable scenes get bogged down by a terrible ending and a what could have been instead of what was.
