Legendary punk / glam rocker David Johansen, frontman of New York Dolls, has passed away

The punk and rock world mourns today as news has broken that David Johansen, legendary frontman of New York Dolls, has sadly passed away.

His death was confirmed by his stepdaughter, Leah Hennessey. He was 75.

Johansen was in the news recently when he announced a fundraiser through the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund with the sad news that he stage 4 cancer, a brain tumor, and had broken his back.

Known in the world of blues as well as his alter ego from the 90s Buster Poindexter, Johansen paved the road with the New York Dolls with their iconic look, heavy songs, and all out lifestyle on stage. A legendary man and act to other legends of music including the likes of Morrisey was even became the president of the bands UK fan club. His friendship with Bill Murray even gave him an acting spot in the film Scrooged.

The entertainment world will not forget this legendary man.
