Film Review : Popeye the Slayer Man (2025)

Another horror film using the Popeye character, oh joy.

This time we follow a group of friends who sneak into an abandoned spinach factory where the legend of the “Sailor Man” is.

Its a simple premise and it works for what it needs to really. We focus mainly inside an abandoned factory here with a gang of largely unlikable characters as they one by one get murdered by the ‘Sailor Man’.

Our wanna be Popeye here looks decent enough. His face, while looking like a mask, looks similar enough to Popeye here and he has the physical build you’d expect. The kills are practical effects and bloody here which work out well.

It doesn’t feel like an entirely cheap cashgrab either. Sure it was made using this character but it feels like they actually tried compared to some other like films. While its nothing amazing by any means, it is a fun slasher type film. It won’t be breaking any records but its a fun one time watch for sure.
