Smash Mouth release new single ‘Had Enuff’

Smash Mouth are back releasing new music with ‘Had Enuff’, the second single from the bands upcoming album ‘Mercury Comit’. Releasing August 12th this will be the bands first non holiday album in 14 years.

“Smash Mouth has always had this kind of early ’60s, bachelor pad, Martin Denny kind of feel to it,” says De Lisle. “Even in the punk rock songs, you have to maintain that feel to some degree. Greg Camp really helped develop that unique sound, and my goal was to seamlessly weave it into this album.”

With “Had Enuff,” that philosophy comes to life in one of the album’s defining moments. Brimming with sunny hooks, infectious grooves, and playful swagger, the track captures the carefree charm that’s long defined Smash Mouth while echoing the laid-back, psychedelic cool of classics like “Walkin’ on the Sun.”

Ironically, the song’s inspiration came from one of the band’s oldest touring traditions.

“We used to soundcheck with ‘Can’t Get Enough of You Baby,'” De Lisle recalls. “After playing it night after night, soundchecks started getting a little repetitive, and I caught myself thinking, ‘I’ve had enough of you, baby.’ When we got home from tour, I couldn’t shake the idea, so I built a song around it and tried to include all the earmarks of the ultimate Smash Mouth song.”

In support of the new music, Smash Mouth will spend the summer and fall touring extensively across North America and Japan, bringing their generational hits and songs from Mercury Comet to audiences around the world.
