Imminence bring a unique evening of metal to Chicago

The Riviera Theatre filled in on a Friday night in Chicago to set the stage for what was set to be a unique night of metal with bands from overseas.

Imminence headlined with a stage filled with incense and giant glass window like lighting backing them as the band took the stage. The 7 piece live act took your typical metalcore to a new level throughout the evening with their sound. While blazingly heavy at times the melodic moments truly shined.

Vocalist Eddie Berg can scream with the fury of a thousand suns but its when his violin comes into the play that the evening transcended. Unsure of if to mosh or stare in amazement, Bergs violin skills are no joke and he makes the beautiful sounds come across as so easy.

The band as a whole though operates as one smooth machine commanding the stage as they blasted through a 21 song set. Heavy off the bands 2024 album “The Black”, fans sang along from the very start.

Kicking off the evening in support was French metalcore act Landmvrks bringing it heavy to start. With a blend of metalcore infused nu metal almost the band hits every angle from rap like moments, singing, and some heavy brutal breakdowns.

The unexpected moment was the first opener JILUKA. With a set of mostly dark lights and leather outfits donned in red lights the band was heavy from the start and unwavering in it. The crowd knew them and gave them the energy back as the room filled.
