Film Review : Hell House LLC II: The Abaddon Hotel (2018)

Well we’re continuing on this series now with part of Hell House LLC. This time we’ve moved from a haunted house to a haunted hotel.

Now 8 years after the events of Hell House that are still unsolved somehow we follow a journalist who after an anonymous tip takes her show to the Abaddon Hotel to investigate what happened there and if it correlates to Hell House. She forms a team and they break into the hotel to see what they can find.

Piggybacking off the first film this is found footage mixed with interviews, tv spots, and more to break it into a story about the events that take place. Sadly though, the story here just becomes extreme in the worst way. By the half way point we’ve been introduced to a handful of random characters who all disappear, none relating to the others, and then are only ever mentioned off the cusp later randomly.

The acting and dialog here is horrendous coming across as the lowest budget they could find with people who seemingly might have never been on screen. Throw in scenes that go on far too long and a ending twist that just doesn’t work. While the location sometimes works and they try to build into good scares, everything just feels random in the worst way. So many scenes end up being the most unlikable characters sitting in a room together.

Knowing what we know now and that this is simply part 2 of 5 in this series, I have no hopes for the others.
