If you had the alcohol company Angry Orchard helping fund a Jason Voorhees short film in 2025 on your bingo card, I have questions for you. Sweet Revenge is the first new piece of film set in the new Jason Universe with this short film helping to promote the upcoming collaboration with Angry Orchard.
Set shortly after Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, Sweet Revenge sees a group of friends rent a cabin at Camp Crystal Lake only for Jason to show up. The film is short and sweet. As expected the dialog and characters aren’t great, you really just want to see Jason kill people.
Which brings us to Jason. This debuts the new Jason mask which I’m not really a fan of and a new Jason, who is pretty terrible. The actor here is just too small and thin vs what we’ve always had which was a larger built Jason.
Thankfully though the kills themselves are solid with some good practical effects here used. The story though itself with someone coming back though I’m not a fan of and I’d be shocked if they ever did anything with it post this short film.
Given its 15 minute run time there isn’t much they can do here. Its honestly better than any beer ad has a right to be though.
