Film Review : Popeye’s Revenge (2025)

We are 4 months into 2025 and have been graced with not one but THREE low budget horror films using the Popeye’s character in its free domain glory. We are truly in the ninth circle of hell.

Here we follow Popeye who as a boy escapes being burned only to drown and come back to haunt and kill those who took part in ending his life. He is part Freddy part Jason all Spinach here.

The Popeye character itself though is totally thrown in to just use the IP here. He is never a sailor or has a backstory of being one, Olive is his girlfriend here, and even the Popeye name himself makes no sense in the story.

Thankfully the dialog and characters here are so bad that we can’t wait to watch them get killed in mediocre ways which is the only even slight redeeming part.

I have 2 other Popeye horror films to watch and I can only hope they are better. 2025 and beyond seems to be the time of cheap horror films using free domain IPs and so far none have been even half decent.
