The Academy Is… Drops New Single ‘L Train’ Before Album Release

Published

on

Chicago alt rock favorites The Academy Is… is back with a new song ‘L Train’. This comes as the bands final single before the reason of ‘Almost There‘, arriving on March 27, 2026, via I Surrender Records.

“‘L Train’ is a song about those nights where you’re stuck in your own head; alone in a crowded room, surrounded by social ghosts,” the band explains. “The song is dreamy, but there’s a haunting, nervous energy running through it. It’s our lens into a midwest mind trip where you’re replaying memories over and over…”

The first new The Academy Is… studio album in over 18 years, Almost There, was heralded by the release of the urgent and melodic lead single “2005,” available now on all digital platforms. The news was shared exclusively via Rolling Stone and eagerly welcomed by fans and tastemaking outlets such as Alternative Press, Brooklyn Vegan, The Needle Drop, and more. Bursting with shimmering guitars, driving rhythms, and one of Beckett’s most emotionally direct vocal performances to date, the first single captures the band’s ability to fuse youthful immediacy with hard-won perspective. An official music video is now on YouTube. Last month, the band shared “Miracle.” The song sways between intense, driving guitars and reflective moments underlined by glimmering tones. The band throws themselves into the iridescence headfirst, as William Beckett sings, “I need to love again/Turn me on my head/I need to feel the warmth/Tell me I’m not dead.”

“Almost Here was the beginning. Almost There is the reflection,” Beckett says. “It’s about checking in with who you thought you’d be twenty years later, seeing what changed, what stuck, and what still feels like home.”

Alissa White-Gluz’s Blue Medusa drops new track ‘Checkmate’

Published

on

Blue Medusa, featuring Aliisa White-Gluz, are at it with their new song ‘Checkmate’. Heavy and melodic just as fans would expect this is a sure fire way to kick off her new band.

The crushing new single was written by Alissa White-GluzAlyssa Day and Dani Sophia, and mixed and mastered by Kile Odell.

This is a song where everything just clicked,” says White-Gluz. “Checkmate is an extremely cathartic song for me. It was created in one of those flow states where the lyrics and melodies and rhythms just write themselves and you get the feeling that you’re onto something powerful. It’s probably the heaviest thing I’ve written in terms of lyrics, and probably the lightest of what we have cooking in terms of sound. I wanted to share the intensity of these feelings with fans and give them something to hold onto. I’m so happy to see so much support for Blue Medusa already; fans can look forward to more dark, heavy, brutal and haunting music very soon.

I know what every frame is for,” jokes White-Gluz. “I’ll share that someday, but for now, I welcome fans to dive deeper into the meaning and develop their own interpretations. That’s what makes videos and movies fun and interesting, in my opinion.

Blue Medusa will also appear at major U.S. festivals this year, including Louder Than Life and Aftershock Festival.

Ice Nine Kills drop new song “Hell or High Slaughter (Grave Diggler: Pt. 2)”

Published

on

Ice Nine Kills, or Grave Diggler, are back with a new song for the film Ready Or Not 2 which drops this weekend. The band re-recorded the 1987 hit ‘Hell Or High Slaughter’ by Grave Diggler for the film with a NSFW video to go with it.

When the directing duo behind Scream (2022) and Scream VI, began work on the sequel to their 2019 black comedy horror hit Ready or Not, they desperately wanted to include one of Grave Diggler’s forgotten classic anthems. But even after Radio Silence Productions deduced the connection with Spencer Charnas, securing the rights was no mean feat.

The ensuing legal battle between fathers and sons resulted in Ice Nine Kills re-recording “Hell or High Slaughter (Grave Diggler: Pt. 2)” for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come and the long-banned 1987 music video for the song seeing the light of day.

“I’ve been estranged from my father for a long time,” Spencer explains. “But this movie, and this song, while bringing a lot of complicated feelings to the surface, also brought us back together.”

Boundaries drop heavy new track ‘Skies Cast Amber Black’

Boundaries are back with a heavy new song ‘Skies Cast Amber Black’. This marks the bands first new music since 2024’s Death Is Little More.

The band is also confirmed for spots at Warped Tour and Louder Than Life.

“I have a deep desire in the pit of my making to surround and suffocate the growing plague of people’s self-interest,” vocalist Matthew McDougal says of the Drew Fulk produced track. “Given the chance, I’d remove every ego from the music landscape and burn it off for fuel to power blood hungry behemoths whose only goal is to crush and disable. This song is my plea to cleanse a community I adore of people who see it only as an opportunity or a stepping stone.”

Sleeping With Sirens return with ‘An Ending In Itself’

Published

on

Sleeping With Sirens have returned with new music with their new song ‘An Ending In Itself’. The song is a powerful and instantly catchy SWS hit that fans will instantly gravitate to.

Unfolding as a meditation on navigating hardships, frontman Kellin Quinn shared his thoughts on the new track below:

“This song is a love letter to anyone in the midst of struggle. I think we live in an age where we’re supposed to pretend like we have it ‘all together all of the time’ so much so that we’re afraid to let anyone in. I think it’s important to have open dialogue and to ask for help when we need it. This song is about being brave enough to admit that we’re not always okay. No matter what you’re going through, there is hope.”

Catch Sleeping With Sirens live this year at Welcome to Rockville, Warped Tour (DC, Long Beach & Orlando), Inkcarceration, Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals. Get your tickets now at http://sirensmusic.co/tour

Koyo show their evolving sound with new single ‘What I’m Worth’

Published

on

Koyo continue to show their ever evolving sound with the bands newest song ‘What I’m Worth’. This comes from the bands upcoming sophomore album, ‘Barely Here‘, arriving May 8th via Pure Noise Records.

Clocking in at ten songs in just 28 minutes, Barely Here is a lean blast of incredibly anthemic punk that packs the firecracker guts of The Movielife, the widescreen hooks of Taking Back Sunday, and the tuneful grit of Silent Majority—but more than anything it sounds like Koyo themselves.

Lead single Irreversible highlighted the band’s mastery of bouncy tempos and big melodies, and now What I’m Worth dives into darker waters with churning riffs and fiery vocals from frontman Joey Chiaramonte

“A lot of bands think their second album has to be this magnum opus epic that sews so many things together, and I think we’d actually taken more of that approach with our first LP, ” explains Chiaramonte. “So with Barely Here we wanted to do the opposite of that trajectory–we wanted to refine our strengths instead of doing this purposeful departure. It’s a snapshot of what our band is in its most no-frills, perfected form.”

Barely HereTrack Listing:

01. Barely Here
02. Jet Stream Wish
03. Saying Vs Meaning (feat. Sammy Ciaramitaro)
04. It Happens to the Best of Us
05. You Hate Me
06. Selden Mansions
07. Oxidize (feat. Marisa Shirar)
08. What I’m Worth
09. Pace and Loiter
10. Irreversible

Black Veil Brides drop new song ‘Vindicate’, announce new album

Published

on

Black Veil Brides have announced their seventh studio album ‘Vindicate’ with the release of the self titled song from the album and video to accompany it. The single, which is instantly catchy, shows the bands progression and mixture of sounds along with Andy Biersack increasing fantastic voice on full display.

The record will be released worldwide on May 8 via Spinefarm.

The album is now available for pre-order here.

“This record is rooted in the feelings of revenge and vindication. These are emotions that can either push us forward or hold us back. There’s a duality to them. They can fuel growth, drive ambition, and help us rise above what’s tried to break us, but they can also become destructive if we let them consume us,” explains Andy Biersack.

Each song explores a different side of that struggle. Sometimes it’s about getting even with someone else, sometimes it’s about confronting ourselves and our past, our pain, or the things that were done to us. At its core, though, this album is about resilience.

It’s for anyone who’s ever had their dreams doubted or their fire challenged by people who couldn’t see their vision. We’re all born with that spark. The world will try to take that away at times, but this record is about holding onto it, fighting back, and turning those struggles into something powerful.”
