Michigan native Quinn XCII brought his LOOK! I’m Alive Tour to the Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre in Sterling Heights on September 12, marking the fifth stop on his 21-date U.S. run. With support from indie-folk outfit Wild Rivers, the homecoming show lived up to every expectation.
The night kicked off with “Georgia Peach,” “Coffee,” and “Tiger Lillies,” each pulled from different albums spanning the past five years. Taking the stage in a Honolulu Blue Detroit Lions crewneck and a vintage Detroit Tigers cap, Quinn immediately sparked cheers from the crowd. Detroit pride was on full display, amplified by the inevitable “Jared Goff” chants, now a staple at nearly every sporting event in the city.
The setlist blended career-spanning hits with fan favorites, including “Another Day in Paradise,” “Stacy,” and “Always Been You.” One of the evening’s most memorable moments came during “Kings of the Summer,” when Quinn leapt into the crowd, belting the final chorus shoulder-to-shoulder with his fans. Afterward, he declared that this show would be the best stop of the entire tour; a statement the electrified audience was more than ready to believe.
Another touching highlight came when Quinn invited his sister on stage to accompany him on “Live and Let Go.” For three and a half minutes, she captivated the audience with surprisingly polished harmonica skills, momentarily stealing the spotlight and adding a heartfelt, family-driven touch to the performance.
Toward the end of the night, Quinn delivered a heartfelt surprise by performing his own rendition of “Buried in Detroit,” originally penned by fellow Detroit native Mike Posner. The choice felt tailor-made for the moment, and his stripped-down, soulful version added a personal touch to an already special performance.
With 17 dates still ahead, Quinn XCII continues to bring LOOK! I’m Alive to cities across the country. If the Sterling Heights show was any indication, fans are in for an unforgettable experience.
