Avoid has announced ‘Creature of Habit‘ their new EP will be dropping Nov. 14th. This follows the bands latest two singles which are on the EP and showcases the bands latest single ‘Sour Apple’. Fans can catch the band on tour this November with Belmont.
“We’re so stoked to release our new track ‘Sour Apple,'” says vocalist Benny Scholl. “What’s funny is this name initially came up just as a demo name. ’cause there was a Sour Apple-flavored vape in the room. We worked out the instrumentals, and then when we finished the vocals and the lyrics, we were trying to come up with what the song will be called. The song is about reflecting on the past and letting go, but also being able to be upset when things haven’t always gone your way. In a way, kind of being a ‘Sour Apple’ about things sometimes and we realized that the name ended up representing the song perfectly.”

As a Halloween treat to fans Alkaline Trio dropped a new single with ‘Surprise Surprise’. This marks the third and final of the singles produced by Travis Barker and made into special 7 inch releases.
Trio singer and guitarist Matt Skiba said of the song, “‘Surprise Surprise’ was inspired by and written for a friend of mine who grew up poor and entrenched in gang life only to become a Navy SEAL and eventually an astronaut. It’s his story combined with my own thoughts regarding how a sort of alchemy takes place when someone takes the experiences of a bad situation and is able to turn them into something profound and beautiful. The rough sketch of the song had only verse and chorus parts but no bridge which was written by Dan in the studio. This song was the last one of the three we did in this session with Travis Barker and was even more of a collaboration and studio creation than the previous two.”
Travis Barker said of the sessions, “Recording with Alkaline Trio was such a treat. Bringing these songs to life from the demos Matt recorded was so exciting. Both Matt and Dan are incredible lyricists, two of my all-time favorites. The studio never feels like work, just a magical place to create. The process was so natural and easy, I could’ve kept going forever. Really proud of these songs me, Matt, Dan, and Atom recorded. Excited for what’s ahead for Alkaline Trio and for fans to hear these special songs we made.”
During last nights Babymetal headline show at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California the band invited Spiritboxs Courtney LaPlante on stage for the live debut of ‘My Queen’ together. While the band has played it a few times this tour it marks the first time the collab has happened together on stage.
15 years into their career LA metalcore act Volumes has announced their 5th studio full length release ‘Mirror Touch’. It will be released digitally on December 12 via longtime label Fearless Records. The physical album will arrive on February 27 of next year. Pre-order it here.
“‘S.O.A.P.’ is about pure and impure indulgence,” the band explains. “Good versus evil. Playing with fire or magic — the lines are blurred here. We self-nurture habits that are deemed immoral, although who is the person making that decisions for us?”
María Zardoya, from indie pop band The Marías, debuts her solo project Not for Radio with the release of her album Melt on October 10. The record blends the dreamy, cinematic sound fans know from The Marías with her own personal twist, mixing gothic, whimsical, and romantic tones. Zardoya describes the project as “her alternate reality,” inviting listeners to reconnect with themselves and the natural world.
In a Vogue interview with Conçetta Ciarlo, María shared that The Marías has always been a 50/50 collaboration between her and bandmate Josh Conway, but with Not for Radio, she wanted full creative control. To make that happen, she teamed up with songwriter Sam Evian and spent three weeks in upstate New York during the dead of winter, a contrast to her usual Los Angeles surroundings.
The visuals for Melt are just as intentional as the music. Zardoya has collaborated with an impressive group of creatives, including visual artist Jaxon Whittington, whose photography carries a dreamy, gothic feel that perfectly complements the album’s atmosphere.
She has also hinted at the possibility of a tour on social media, asking fans if she should take Not for Radio on the road.
Judging by the excitement online, listeners are excited for what is to come.
The Twilight Sad are back with a new song this time teaming up with one of musics most legendary singers in the form of The Cure’s Robert Smith. The single is out now via Rock Action Records, the track is an impassioned autobiographical epic detailing a phone call you never want to arrive.
Commentating on the track, singer and lyricist James Graham says: “WAITING FOR THE PHONE CALL is about grief, love, and mental illness. These things took over my life and I became ill. I lost the person most important to me in one of the cruellest ways. I’ve always used writing as a method of processing and coping with my emotions. My emotions became a problem and I couldn’t control them. Writing music with Andy… especially the past seven years had been both the escape and the opportunity to process and try and make sense of life. We’ve all been waiting on a phone call that can change our lives at some point. This unfortunately focuses on a phone call that you never want to have.” HE TWILIGHT SAD TOUR DATES

After premiering the song live at Rolling Stone’s ‘Musicians on Musicians’ event last week, Hayley Williams has now released her latest song ‘Good Ol’ Days’. The track is one of two new songs that will appear on the final physical form of her album Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party which arrives in stores on November 7th.
Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party originally dropped as a surprise collection of 17 unsequenced singles. Fans took to social media, working up their own tracklistings and even creating hayleysingles.com, where thousands of fans were able to share their preferred order just as Williams had hoped. Later the album was released digitally with 18 tracks including the single “Parachute,” and has been streamed over 110 million times in the 7 weeks since its digital release. Fans can still pre-order the physical album today, and a series of live listening events have been planned in record stores around the world.
